Why We Sell More Houses
Burns and Ellis is among Delaware’s largest and oldest privately owned real estate agencies, providing unparalleled commitment to and involvement in the communities we serve. For our clients that means a uniquely personal engagement with our agents; and agents trained by a business large enough to provide cutting edge training and support.
Many Agents, One Team
Co-Owner Tom Burns is not only a lifelong real estate professional, his intimate knowledge of the region comes from serving it as a Realtor® and guiding it with volunteer service on public boards and committees. Wife Terry Burns shares his lifetime experience as a professional Realtor®, and ensures that our hand-picked staff of agents embrace the values, standards and practices that consistently result in the highest percentage of home sales in central Kent County.
Every member of our team is a skilled professional, practiced at successfully matching buyers and sellers. At Burns and Ellis we recognize the life-shaping impact of the transactions we facilitate and do our best to make it a positive experience for both parties.
The basis for Burns and Ellis’s success over almost half a century is integrity. You do not succeed long-term in this business without a commitment to honesty and service. Our customers ask us to shepherd them through what for many will be the biggest financial transaction of their lives. That is a responsibility we recognize and honor with candor and professional skill. As Realtors Tom and Terry are held to a higher standard, one which they require of their agents.
Ms. Young joined Burns and Ellis in the spring of 2017. As a native of Massachusetts, she was a real estate broker with the Feodoroff Agency in West Bridgewater, MA. Ironically, when studying for her MA license, her classes included an in-depth study of Delaware real estate laws. Ms. Young took a break from the real estate industry to pursue a career in information technology (IT). For over thirty years, she worked in and around Washington, DC as both a technical consultant and federal employee. Throughout her IT career, she led the industry in data stewardship, data quality and advanced information management practices. Her career is highlighted by several senior positions in the government including the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s (FDIC) Chief of Data Administration and at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA): Program Director for Information Management, Chief Technology Officer (a) and Chief Engineer of some of the Air Traffic Control Safety Systems. In addition to leading the FAA’s information management policies and practices, she was the agency’s representative on several international committees focused on advancing new technologies and standardizing the exchange of critical aviation safety information.
Ms. Young moved to Delaware in 2004 and after retiring from the federal government, she decided to return to her life-long passion – helping people find their way home.
